New Callings

So, I generally do not mention too much about our church callings, for whatever reason, but Paul and I recently both received new callings in the ward, one of which is note-worthy. Now this post may not make sense to those of you who are not Latter-Day Saints, but for those of you who are, you will appreciate this.

My new calling is not anything out of the ordinary. I've been called as a counselor in the primary organization. I had been serving as a counselor in the Relief Society, so this is kind of a nice change. But Paul received a slightly unexpected calling.

We were told that the Stake President wanted to meet with Paul and I, which baffled us. There aren't too many callings that are given from the Stake President. We knew it wouldn't be the bishopric because we had just reorganized our ward boundaries and a new bishopric was, of course, put in place, so we felt good about that.

Anyway, to make a long story short, Paul was put in as the High Priest Group Leader yesterday! That's right, the High Priest Group Leader! Not only has Paul felt a little out of place just being in the High Priest Group at a young age, but now he gets to serve as the group leader at the ripe old age of 32! We just laughed and laughed after he received the call. I love surprises like this in life. It's nice to have things out of the ordinary happen sometimes. Paul will do a great job!

After Paul was set apart, which is done in front of the High Priest group, the Stake Patriarch, who is in our ward, turned around and said to me, "He's the youngest, most good-looking High Priest Group leader I've ever seen! And I'm not kidding!" I guess I'd have to agree with him ;)
