The Breakers

Just thought I'd post a few pictures of our new summer home.

Oh wait . . . I guess it was the Vanderbilt family's summer home built a hundred years ago. I'd hate to claim it as mine, since it is a little shabby. Only 70 rooms, 100,000 sq ft. Not quite enough space for our family.

Yeah, it's pretty incredible to think that people had so much money that they built something like this where they only spent a few months of the year . Not only that, but the first summer home they built on the same spot burnt down, so they built another one that was more fireproof, with the kitchen in a separate wing from the rest of the home. We personally thought the backyard was the best part. Just open grass reaching out to the cliffs overlooking the ocean. Not a bad view at all. You can't see it in the pictures because of the ocean fog, but it did clear up later on in the day, so we were able to see the ocean horizon.

We went to Newport, RI with our friends, Mike and Ashley on Saturday. It was a lot of fun. We all got a little sunburned. Of course I wasn't quite in the sunscreen mode yet. Poor Anna woke up with blisters on her little cheeks the next morning. I felt terrible, but they're healing nicely.

Happy Easter!

Samantha did a great job decorating eggs this year. We're thinking Anna might be invited next year. Samantha had a good time, and we enjoyed eating the eggs during the week.

She was so proud.
We drove to the beach a few weekends ago, but it turned out to be very cold, so we had a picnic in the car. Luckily Samantha was totally okay with that, otherwise we would have had one freezing picnic on the sand. Of course Anna's just happy when there's food in her hands, as long as there's food in both hands.

Look at how big Anna is getting. She is definitely looking like a toddler now, but we still call her baby. She's got both of her hands filled with rocks in this picture. She does everything that Samantha does.

We finally got a second baby swing so that both girls can swing at once. Samantha only wants to ride in the new one, even though the old one goes higher. I think my arms are going to be pretty buff by the end of the summer after swinging the girls almost every day.
